Mc Bride Project
Mc Bride Project
Located next to Lake Rotoiti this project involved:
- A 651 m2 addition
- Full re-build of roof structure and internal alterations to the existing 220 m2 residence
- 101 m2 of exterior carport & pergola structures
- An architectural designed 60 m2 circular timber deck
- Several timber retaining walls
The 651 m2 “addition” consisted of a 301 m2 masonry lower floor which provides a wine cellar, climbing wall and substantial vehicle storage. The standout aspect of this “basement” was the 3.8m stud height with the masonry walls retaining to this height in parts. The upper floor and throughout the rest of the project timber design was a recurring theme. This included the circular deck which involved the use of curved laminated beams and required a high level of detailing.
BSK Consulting Engineers provided a full structural engineering design service for all aspects of this project, including construction monitoring and the provision of advice to the contractor during construction where required.
We worked closely with all parties throughout the project – client, architect, contractor, geotechnical engineer, and local authority. Starting with a site meeting between all parties at the concept stage. Excellent communication was maintained throughout the project which ensured a successful outcome.
